ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE PROCEDURES
To insure the safety and health of all members of the Hunnewell community, please do not bring your dog to school during arrival and dismissal times.
With the exception of some bus students who may arrive early, students should not arrive at school without adult supervision before 8:15am, as there is no Hunnewell staff supervision available prior to that time.
The playground equipment is closed before school for safety reasons.
Students are expected to stay on the blacktop between 8:15-8:30am
All bicycles, scooters, and skateboards should be walked onto the Hunnewell playground and stored in the bike racks.
Throwing snowballs is not allowed at Hunnewell during the school day, which is considered from 8:15am-3:15pm.
REGULAR MORNING ARRIVAL
8:15am - THE MORNING MINGLE
At 8:15am there will be staff members available outside to supervise the students arriving for school. Between 8:15-8:28am, students will be encouraged to use this time to mingle.
8:25am - ROUND-UP
The whistle will be blown three times and children will line up with their class.
8:30am - SCHOOL DAY BEGINS
The Teaching Assistants will escort the students into the building.
Classroom teachers will be present for the first few weeks to practice this transition.
8:35am - FRONT DOOR LOCKED
All students who arrive after this time MUST be walked in and signed-in by a caregiver at the front office. They will be marked TARDY on their attendance record and given a Tardy Slip to present to the teacher so that the teacher knows the child is accounted for in our attendance system.

FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL STUDENTS
The curb between the two circular driveways IS THE ONLY DESIGNATED LIVE DROPOFF ZONE! Make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle promptly. If you need to park your car, see below.
Pull ahead as far as you can to make room for cars in line behind you.
Pull your car completely to the curb before discharging passengers.
Drivers MUST STAY in their cars to keep the traffic flow moving.
Children exit from the curb-side of the car ONLY.
Pulling around a car that is unloading students is prohibited!
The curbs between the two circular driveway entrances are a NO STOPPING ZONE from 2:45-3:30pm. This is a school bus zone ONLY. The bus needs clear access to this area and when it has to maneuver around idling or parked cars, it creates a safety hazard and holds up traffic flow behind the bus. Remember when the bus/van lights are flashing you cannot pass the bus or van.
Remember, you can help decrease traffic congestion at school by forming carpools and/or walking with neighbors. Parents with fourth and fifth graders are encouraged to drop-off and pick-up their children at a pre-designated meeting point off Cameron Street. This can promote independence and reduce congestion on Cameron Street.
Parking at The Wellesley Free Library Parking Lot is prohibited at ALL TIMES, including pick-up and drop-off.
Parking at Dana Hall is prohibited.
The circular driveway and staff parking lot are closed from 8:15am - 3:15pm.
Crosswalks and fire hydrants must be kept clear at ALL TIMES.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Cameron Street: Park along the playground fence or beyond the circular driveway area. Parking is prohibited on the opposite side of the street to allow for emergency vehicle passage. Parking is also not allowed in the private lots across from Hunnewell. You may be ticketed.
Cameron Street Town Lot: The Cameron Street Lot is available for Hunnewell parents from 8:15-8:45 am and from 2:45-3:45 pm. If you are dropping off and/or picking up a child at Hunnewell and your receive a ticket, you can appeal that ticket with the parking clerk.
Hampden Street: North side only (closest to Hunnewell).
Brook Street: East side only (between Amherst Road and the Methodist church). Avoid parking too close to the crosswalk as this makes it difficult for children to see and be seen.
